“Building Bridges” is a student initiated, student led diversity conference dedicated to addressing today’s pressing global and social issues. This year’s conference, “Immigration: Surviving the Land of Opportunity,” will focus on the two sides of immigration: the struggles immigrants face and the strength required to survive these struggles every day.
In March 2010, Women's Program Director Cheryl Thomas will travel to Errechidia, Morocco at the invitation of the Washington D.C.-based group Global Rights.
By request from the State of Minnesota, The Advocates investigated and reported on the government response to sex-trafficking and the effectiveness of services available for trafficking victims, leading to the “Bill for an Act to Combat Trafficking in Minnesota”.
